Pablo Machín is no longer the coach of Elche. He will not continue at the helm of the bottom team in La Liga Santander in these last 12 rounds of La Liga. The defeat away to Real Sociedad on Sunday, 2-0, was his last game in charge of the team.

A club statement officially announced the dismissal.
“Elche Club de Fútbol announces that Pablo Machín will not continue as first team coach. The club would like to thank the coach for his work and commitment during his time as coach. Elche would like to wish Machín and his coaching staff all the best of luck both personally and in his professional career. The first team coaching staff will lead today’s training session”.
The ‘Machín era’ at Elche comes to an end after 12 games in charge in La Liga, with a record of two wins, three draws and seven defeats after four months in charge. Four months after his arrival at the club, he was sacked after failing to achieve the objective of saving the team from the relegation zone.
After the international break, their next game is the league match on April 1st against FC Barcelona at the Martínez Valero.
