Incensed by the squandered lead, Conte vented his spleen saying his players were selfish, they lacked ‘fire in their eyes’ and that this was why the club ‘had never won anything’.

Taking to Twitter, the pundit and former Liverpool legend said that the Spurs hierarchy should ‘put him out of his misery’, responding to a clip from the Italian manager’s post-match press conference.

Carragher shared his thoughts on the explosive press conference on the social media platform, tweeting: ‘Conte wants to be sacked in this international break. Spurs should just put him out of his misery and do it tonight.’

Following the draw, Conte did not debrief his players immediately after the final whistle, but went straight to his media duties, clearly keen to speak his mind.
