New York City FC are looking to add reinforcements to their midfield in the form of PSV Eindhoven midfielder Richie Ledezma.

Reports from MLSSoccer.com writer Tom Bogert say that the Pigeons are in the process of signing the 22-year old on loan from his parent club in Holland.

Ledezma has made six appearances in the Dutch Eredivisie, but hasn’t made a start for PSV in the league. He has started one game for De Boeren in their UEFA Europa League campaign.

Over 16 appearances – including six for PSV’s reserve side in the Dutch second division – Ledezma has been on the scoresheet once with a single assist.

The Mexican-American joined Eindhoven on a free transfer from the academy of Real Salt Lake in MLS. He has one appearance for the United States men’s national team.

With the start of the MLS season less than a month away, clubs are scrambling to finalize their rosters and NYCFC might have a bigger need to get their affairs in order than others.

After winning MLS Cup in 2021, the club saw a massive player turnover this offseason that has left the squad a shell of its former selves.

New York City FC are in the midst of a re-build and hope that bringing Ledzema in will help to support their threadbare midfield.

In the offseason, club icon Maxi Moralez departed for Racing Club in Argentina while defensive midfielder Nicolas Acevedo left for Brazilian side Esporte Clube Bahia.

Elsewhere in the team, lethal striker Taty Castellanos remains with LaLiga side Girona and is likely to make a permanent move elsewhere. Joining him there is Peruvian center back Alexander Callens.

In addition, longtime goalkeeper Sean Johnson departed for Toronto FC at the expiration of his contract.

Other departures included right back Anton Tinnerholm to Malmo, Gedion Zelalem to FC Den Hosch in Holland, and striker Heber to Seattle Sounders FC.
