AS Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto admits they made an attempt for Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech in January.
Pinto says they looked at Ziyech as a replacement for Nicolo Zaniolo.
He said, “Ziyech was one of the players we followed.
“We held talks with his agent but the talks with Chelsea collapsed.
“I can also confirm that we followed some other players. But nothing happened due to Nicoló Zaniolo snubbing Bournemouth.”
Zaniolo has since signed for Galatasaray in the last 24 hours.
