The French side have played their home games at the city-owned stadium since 1974, and are said to have invested over £75million in its facilities in the last few years.

However, after a major fallout with Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo – in which she refused to sell the stadium to the Qatari-owned club – PSG are now looking for a new home.

According to AS, PSG have hired US company Legends Hospitality to help them find a new stadium. Meanwhile, a source told AFP that PSG have commissioned the company to look at even building a new stadium.

The company, which has involvement in LA Galaxy’s stadium and has worked with Tottenham and Liverpool before, specialise in operating sports venues.

PSG were hoping to renovate the stadium further but Hidalgo is only willing to lease the Parc des Princes out.

The Ligue 1 champions were said to have been willing to invest another £440million to improve the stadium further, but Hidalgo has closed a potential deal.

The club have been exploring alternatives including the Stade de France, but it was written off due to its high cost.

The conflict between PSG and the Paris City Council first began during the World Cup, where owner Nasser Al Khelaifi opened up about plans to renovate the stadium.

City Council member Pierre Rabadan, who is also acting as deputy for Paris 2024, said he was ‘not surprised’ by PSG’s move and confirmed a new meeting will take place.

‘As you know, we are waiting to meet again. We have positioned ourselves to renew the dialogue,’ he said.

‘The date has not yet been set, but in any case, we will have to talk. It seems to me that it is now necessary to resume discussions. Therefore, we are waiting for this date to move forward.’
