Barcelona forward Memphis Depay has admitted that despite all the difficulties, he wants to continue donning the royal blue of Balugrana beyond the summer.

Depay, who signed for Barcelona in June 2021, signed a two-year deal and as he inches closer to the expiry, reports have it that the team is still uncertain over the future of the Dutchman.

As reported earlier, Barcelona have decided to freeze all the operations for the forward as they are waiting to see whether or not a new striker can arrive.

In case there is, in fact, a new face, the team will have no problem in parting ways since Depay will fall further down the pecking order below Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati and the new forward.

In the otherwise scenario, the team will hand him a new deal which will extend his stay for at least one more year.

However, regardless of what has been said in the media, the 28-year-old recently shed light on his future where he admitted that he wants to continue at Camp Nou.

“I was the team’s top scorer”, he was quoted as saying.

“I’ve only been here for a season, but I feel at home in Barcelona. I look forward to going back again,” he added.

Upon being asked whether he wants to stay, his one-word answer was a plain “yes”.

“I have finished the course as the club’s top scorer despite all my injuries. Obviously, I expected more. I did not imagine that Messi would leave. His departure affected us a lot,” he concluded.

Depay’s delicate situation at Barcelona has attracted several suitors and the likes of Arsenal and Juventus are thought to be the front-runners. For the Gunners, they are still looking for someone who can replace Aubameyang and if reports are to be believed, Depay has been identified as one
