Lyon have secured the arrival of former Bayern Munich centre back Jerome Boateng on a free transfer on transfer deadline day.

Boateng, 32, failed to agree an extension to his deal at the Allianz Arena and the ex-Manchester City man will now ply his trade in France after 10 trophy-laden years in Germany.

In addition, star player Houssem Aouar looks set to stay at the club, according to Sky Sport Italy, despite interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Real Madrid.

Reporter Fabrizio Romano confirmed the playmaker is set to stay at Lyon on deadline day.

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the French midfielder and made several bids for him last summer, but a move never materialised as the Gunners went to sign Thomas Partey for £45million instead.

Spurs also made an enquiry to Lyon last week about the availability of their 23-year-old midfielder, who has scored 17 goals in the past two years for the French club.

He scored eight goals and provided four assists in 33 appearances for the Ligue 1 side last season.

Boateng, meanwhile, arrives in Lyon having won every major trophy available to him in Germany following his arrival in 2011.

He won the 2013 and 2020 Champions League, nine Bundesliga titles and five German cups during his stay in Bavaria.
