Mikel Arteta on Wednesday night urged his Arsenal players to control their emotions during the title run as they extended their lead at the Premier League summit to five points.
The Gunners cruised past relegation threatened Everton to increase their advantage over second placed Manchester City as hopes of winning their first championship since 2004 intensify.
Arteta’s side have won three matches in succession since losing to City at the Emirates on February 15 and the Gunners boss, who refused to admit his team are title favourites, said: ‘I wasn’t in any doubt (that we would bounce back from the loss to City)
‘When you look at them every day you can feel how much they want it, how much they want to please our people.
‘We just need to focus on what we can control and let the rest happen naturally because it is nothing else anybody can control.’
Everton remain in the bottom three but are now one point adrift of Leeds in 17th having played a game more.
Manager Sean Dyche added: ‘They played well but couldn’t break us down [for 40 minutes]. That’s pleasing for us. In the second half they showed what a side they are.
‘You look at Arsenal’s work ethic, they knew because they came to Goodison and we put in a shift and protected our lead, they responded. The top teams learn.
‘We’re not naive. I knew it wasn’t all rosy when I came. There’s plenty of work to do, I know that. Every game is a big time. I’ve told the players that. We’re not a million miles away from the previous performances. But we have to make the details better.’
Dyche added that there is a chance striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has been injured with a hamstring, could be available for Sunday’s visit to Nottingham Forest.
