Burnley are signing Swansea City striker Michael Obafemi on an initial loan with view to a £3m deal in the summer.

The 22-year-old made his first team breakthrough at Southampton having spent time in the youth academies of Chelsea, Arsenal, Watford, Leyton Orient and the Saints.
He moved on to Swansea in 2021 in search of regular first team football and has impressed at the Liberty Stadium, scoring 15 goals in 52 appearances for the club.
Vincent Kompany’s table-toppers have long-held an interest in Obafemi with the Clarets seeing a number of bids rejected for him in the summer.
And it now looks as if they will finally get their man, with Obafemi having not featured for the Swans since before the World Cup.

The 22-year-old striker has scored three goals in 19 league appearances this season.

He has also netted twice in seven caps for the Republic of Ireland and Obafemi will launch a new chapter of his career at Turf Moor.
Burnley are currently five points clear of Sheffield United at the top of the Championship – and a massive 18 points clear of the play-off spots.
They face Ipswich in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday, before returning to Championship action against Norwich next week.
