More players from the United States are making the switch to Europe during the January transfer window. James Sand could be the next player to leave Major League Soccer this week and play on loan with Rangers for the remainder of the season.

Rangers close to signing versatile USMNT player

Sands helped New York City Football Club win the MLS Cup last season and he proved to be very versatile on the pitch. The 21-year-old can play as a centre-back or a defensive midfielder and Rangers are keen to sign him and help them win the league title this campaign.

According to the latest report, the MLS side will send Sands on loan to Ibrox with an option to buy him at the end of the six-month deal. The United States international made his debut in MLS in 2017 and since then has made 65 appearances.

Sands has also earned seven caps with the United States men’s national team and played in all six games during the 2021 Gold Cup campaign. He helped the USMNT win their second trophy that summer by defeating Mexico in the final and played against Honduras in the World Cup qualifier last year.
