Antonio Conte is facing a crunch 24 hours with developments over his immediate future at Tottenham entering a crucial stage with the head coach scheduled to return to work on Tuesday.
Conte has spent the international break back in his native Italy amid expectation that he would lose his job following the manager’s now infamous verbal attack on his players after the 3-3 draw at Southampton.
Sources at the start of last week had indicated that the former Chelsea boss would have vacated the role by Monday.
However, Conte remains Spurs’ head coach as talks over his expected exit continue.
But developments over his future are set to come to a head with Conte due to return back to the club’s Enfield HQ on Tuesday.
Players who have been on international duty will start filtering back at the start of the week and the plan has always been for Conte to report back for duty in time to greet them.
There has been uncertainty over whether Conte would even return from Italy as speculation over his future mounted.
