Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has revealed that there is currently no contact between Bayern Munich and their goalkeeper Alexander Nübel (26), who is currently on loan at AS Monaco.

Nübel has been on loan at the Principality side since the beginning of 2020/21 season. He has six months remaining on his current deal. However, it is uncertain whether he will return to the Bavarian side at the end of his loan spell. In September, the German goalkeeper told Get French Football News’ Luke Entwistle that it made “no sense” for him to return to Bayern Munich whilst Manuel Neuer was still number one.

However, having sustained a season-ending injury in a skiing accident, Bayern Munich are in need of a replacement, and Plettenberg has previously evoked the possibility of a recall for Nübel. It is Get French Football News’ understanding that Nübel wants assurances about game time once Neuer returns from his injury in order to return to the Allianz Arena.

Plettenberg has now revealed that there is currently no contact between the club and the on-loan player, whilst talks between the two clubs have been described as “loose.” Alternatives, notably Yann Sommer, are being explored by Bayern Munich.
