After scoring yet another goal in Serie A yesterday for AC Milan against Spezia in a 2-1 victory French striker Olivier Giroud spoke tentatively about the possibility of representing France at a third World Cup – four days out from Didier Deschamps’ squad announcement, as transcribed by L’Équipe.

“The possibility of playing a third World Cup is very important. For me, it is a goal to keep retain our title. We have a great team, we have a lot of hope with all the talents that France has. But I don’t want to think about the World Cup now, we will see on Wednesday when Didier Deschamps will communicate his selection”
Giroud now has nine goals this season in 18 appearances for AC Milan, putting himself firmly on the radar to be on that place to Qatar alongside Ballon D’Or winner Karim Benzema – the squad selection will announced on French national television in four days time.
