The Football Association has spoken to Arsenal defender Gabriel after the governing body opened a probe into his confrontation with Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson on Sunday.

Brazil international Gabriel has spoken to disciplinary chiefs as part of the FA’s enquiries into his heated altercation with Henderson , who is also understood to have had the chance to put his side of the story across.
It is understood to Gabriel, who is relaxed by the matter, has complained he heard something on the pitch which triggered an angry confrontation with Henderson.

The FA confirmed on Sunday night that they were looking into the incident, that took place just after Arsenal were awarded their decisive penalty in 3-2 win.

Henderson and Gabriel had to be separated during the flashpoint and it now appears clear that the duo are central to the FA’s early enquiries.
It remains to be seen whether the FA open a full scale investigation into the matter.

On Sunday, an FA spokesperson confirmed: ‘We are aware of an incident that took place during the match between Arsenal and Liverpool. We are in dialogue with the match officials and will review the details of the incident.’
However, there was no further update from the FA yesterday.
