Atletico Madrid have not had to deal with the loss of one of their stars for several seasons, a sign of either the progress they have made or a lack of development from key players, depending on which way you look at it.

They may have a battle on their hands to keep Jan Oblak at the club though. The Slovenian shot-stopper is out of contract in the summer of 2023 and although he appears content in Madrid, it cannot be ruled out that he has his head turned by the Premier League.
Mundo Deportivo have picked up on a report from The Mirror in England which claims that Oblak is receiving interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
Spurs number one Hugo Lloris is aging and Oblak would no doubt represent an upgrade. Meanwhile United are said to be considering allowing David de Gea out the door next summer due to his high wages.
Even considering a down season last year, Atleti will likely do what they can to hang onto Oblak. Before 2021, he was considered by many as the best ‘keeper in the world in Spain. Additionally, when potential negotiations are ongoing, links to other teams tend to serve the player’s agent.
