Manchester City have decided to send one of their sports therapists to Norway to keep an eye on Erling Haaland’s fitness

The request is said to have come from Haaland himself, with both parties keen on maintaining his peak conditions.

Haaland has taken no time in adapting to the Premier League, with the Norwegian currently leading the scoring charts.

He is part of the squad that was called up by Norway head coach Ståle Solbakken for their UEFA Nations League matches against Slovenia and Serbia.

Daily Mail reports that Mario Pafundi, who is a sports therapist, will link up with the Norwegian team. Pafundi has been at City since Pep Guardiola’s appointment and shares a close relationship with Haaland. The striker is said to have approved of the decision. Pafundi’s role will be to ensure that Haaland maintains the same routine that he has at Manchester City that has enabled him to score 14 goals so far. Guardiola will be keen on having his striker back in optimum condition as the football calendar enters into a congested stage before the World Cup.

Solbakken confirmed that Pafundi won’t be working on Haaland alone but will pass his knowledge to the rest of the squad. City have in the past sent their professionals to observe Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne while they were away on international duty.
