Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks is wanted on loan by Serie A side Sampdoria but is keen to stay in the Premier League.

Winks’ days at Spurs appear to have been numbered for some time after Antonio Conte opted not to take him on the club’s pre-season trip to South Korea last month.

He has also not featured at all for Tottenham this season, having fallen even further down the pecking order following the summer arrival of Yves Bissouma.

A move to Italy has emerged as a possibility, with Sampdoria showing an interest in taking the 26-year-old on a temporary basis.

Roma have also been linked with Winks as they look to bolster their midfield options following news that Georginio Wijnaldum fractured his tibia in training and is expected to be sidelined for a lengthy period.

However, Winks would prefer to remain in England. The 10-cap international has made 128 appearances for Spurs in the top flight since making his debut in 2016.

Meanwhile, one Tottenham outcast who is closing in on a move away is Bryan Gil. The winger is set for another loan spell at Valencia after spending the second half of last season at the Spanish club.

Gil played 17 games for Valencia last term, which included him featuring in the Copa del Rey final defeat against Real Betis.

He is now on the brink of returning to the club to play under new manager Gennaro Gattuso.

The transfer is expected to be completed shortly as the 21-year-old looks to get regular first team football in his homeland.
