Michail Antonio has hailed Manchester City’s ‘liquid’ style following West Ham’s 2-0 defeat by the champions last weekend, describing their impressive performance as a ‘masterclass’.

Pep Guardiola’s side made the perfect start to their title defence in the capital on Sunday, as new £51million signing Erling Haaland scored twice to help City pick up all three points against the Irons.

Reflecting on the game, Antonio lauded City’s mesmerising performance and explained just how difficult it was to stop them from scoring.

‘Their system is liquid. It’s liquid. It can’t be contained,’ he told BBC Sounds.

‘When I say to you, it’s that they’re rotating everywhere. [Joao] Cancelo’s popping up in midfield, Kyle Walker playing midfield.

‘Then [Jack] Grealish would be out wide, then Bernardo [Silva] would be inside him, so the full-backs can’t come and mark and get tight.

‘It was a masterclass. It’s just one of those things where you’ve got to put your hands up and say they were unbelievable.’

David Moyes’ side travel to the City Ground on Sunday to face newly-promoted outfit Nottingham Forest, who began their season with a 2-0 away defeat to Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Man City host Bournemouth at the Etihad on Saturday.
