Arsenal loanee Nuno Tavares made an instant impact on his Marseille debut on Sunday, scoring a brilliant goal from outside of the box to double his side’s lead on the night.
Tavares will spend season in France with Arsenal hoping he can regain confidence and form following a difficult second half to last season.
And he made made the perfect start, drifting in from the left wing before finding the for corner with a fierce low strike.
Mikel Arteta will no doubt be pleased, having shown his faith in Tavares by opting not to sell him.
‘It’s announced it’s official and for Nuno’s development I think it’s going to be really important,’ Arteta explained at the end of last month.
‘Obviously we have recruited Oleks in that position and we have Kieran as well which is two really really good and strong players in that position.
‘We believe Nuno’s best solution was to do that.’
