Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has warned Sadio Mane that he would be making a huge mistake by leaving the Reds in the summer.

The Senegalese star has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield in the coming months, as he looks to start a new chapter in his impressive career.
In light of this, Villa boss Gerrard questioned why Mane would ‘want to leave this Liverpool team’ after another successful season with the Merseyside club.

Speaking to BT Sport, Gerrard said: ‘[Mohamed] Salah has already said that he is going to be here next year, I know there is a bit of noise around Mane.
‘But why would you want to leave this Liverpool team because you know that they are going to be competitive in the business end of the season?’
Egyptian star Mo Salah was also uncertain over his future at Liverpool, but is now expected to stay at the club until the end of next season at least – a decision which Gerrard thinks Mane should follow.
Prior to the Champions League final, Mane teased an announcement over his future by saying: ‘Come back to me on Saturday and I will give you the best answer you want to hear, for sure. It’s special. I will give you all you want to hear then.’
The Senegalese forward has won the Africa Cup of Nations, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup during this calendar year – having fallen just short of Premier League and Champions League success with the Reds.

When questioned on the possible move, Jurgen Klopp made reference to his previous rivalry with Bayern Munich – who are the side said to be monitoring Mane’s future.
Klopp said: ‘Wherever Sadio will play next season he will be a big player, definitely. Sadio is in the shape of his life, for sure. Brilliant shape, it is a joy to watch him. We ask of him a lot this season, football asks of him a lot — lot of finals. I couldn’t care less in the moment.’
‘[I have] no concerns, it’s completely normal. It’s not the first time in my career that before a game rumours about Bayern Munich come up, but no problem at all.’
