Villarreal centre back Pau Torres insists that the only contract offer he has received is from his current club as rumours swirl amid reports his agent has arrived in the UK ahead of a move to Manchester United.

After several reports last summer that Torres was on his way out of the club, the 25-year-old chose to stay for the opportunity of playing Champions League football, something United have not managed this term.
But Spanish outlet Cadena Ser have suggested that the Spanish international’s representatives are ready to sign off a deal, after an agreement had been reached with the player and both clubs.
Torres told Spanish paper AS: ‘Right now there is nothing at all, there is talk of many things like every year, I have peace of mind of being where they want me, at the club of my life and I have this offer right now that I value as very positive.

‘There is nothing right now, the only thing I have is the offer from Villarreal, so I am very calm.’
He has drawn the interest of Europe’s top clubs after several impressive displays at El Submarino Amarillo, but that interest is believed to have intensified after Villarreal’s stunning road to the Champions League semifinals.

New United boss Erik ten Hag is plotting a major overhaul of United’s underperforming squad, and an attempt to sign long-term target Torres is said to have already started with the manager’s approval.
Ten Hag is said to have been consulted over the potential signing, according to the Manchester Evening News, and he is thought to be intent on getting his man, who has a reported £55million release clause.
Whilst the defender is still under contract until 2024, United could pay around £43m for the him. His abilities on the ball are thought to match the style of play Ten Hag wants to develop at Old Trafford.

Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones will be among the defenders leaving at the end of the season, according to the outlet.
Europa League winner Torres is said to have been the back-up option when United signed Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in August 2021 under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Ten Hag is also thought to be exploring the possibility of bringing Ajax’s highly-rated youngster Jurrien Timber with him to Old Trafford from the Dutch capital.
Timber made his Ajax debut in 2020 and was almost ever-present as they won their most recent title under Ten Hag, scoring his first goal for the Amsterdammers to set them on their way to a 4-0 win over Emmen on May 2 that sealed top spot in the top-flight.
