Apparently, the Gunners have some fantastic loaned players in the 2021-2022 campaign, having seen their all-around statistics. As a result, one of Arsenal’s loanees has won the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year award, primarily because of his performance throughout the season. That being said, the player is expected to make it into Mikel Arteta’s starting XI next season.
William Saliba has been named the Ligue Young Player of the 2021-2022 Season, based on his all-around displays at Marseille in the league. Of course, the Frenchman was flawless and amazing for his side from the beginning of the campaign. So, he thoroughly deserves the honor.
Statistically speaking, the Gunners’ loaned player had 36 games for Marseille this season, in which he kept 14 clean sheets. In all fairness, William Saliba played a significant role in the team’s performance, having finished in 3rd position in the league table.
With all that being said, the French international centre-back beat other young players, like PSG’s Nuno Mendes, Lyon’s Castello Lukeba, Nice’s Khephren Thuram, and Lens’ Arnaud Kalimuendo, to win the award. Meanwhile, Aurélien Tchouaméni won the prize last year, after Kylian Mbappe won it for three consecutive seasons.
Without being sentimental, William Saliba deserves to be in Arsenal’s starting XI next campaign, as he can comfortably play alongside Gabriel Magalhães or Ben White. Obviously, Mikel Arteta doesn’t really rate the player’s potential. However, he has everything to bolster the team’s performance, having seen his defensive statistics at Marseille this season.
Simply put, Arsenal’s loaned player, William Saliba, has been named the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Season, having been an irreplaceable player for his side throughout the campaign in the league. Of course, he truly deserves the award.
