Laporte began by saying: “It was very important to win against Leeds and we did it. We need to continue in the same way. We know Liverpool won earlier and they kept getting good results so we have to do the same.

“I think we played at a good level all season. Of course, we’ll look at the Liverpool game and the result, but we’ll just focus on ourselves and make sure we do our job.

Speaking about the Champions League tie, Laporte said: “I think we played very well in the first leg and we would have liked to finish with a bigger advantage. We know Real Madrid have a great history in the Champions League, but we are very confident that we can go to Madrid and play a good game and qualify for the Champions League final.”
