Manchester United and Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s French winger Moussa Diaby.

The 22-year-old has been in sparkling form for the German outfit this season, with 16 goals and 9 assists in all competitions.

Earlier this month, Sportsmail reported Newcastle are interested in Diaby and it now seems they will face competition from two of England’s heavyweights.

That’s according to German reporter Patrick Berger, who Tweeted: ‘Manchester United, FC Arsenal and Newcastle are interested in Moussa Diaby. The French winger from Bayer Leverkusen (16 goals/9 assists this seasons) has no release clause.

‘Price tag: €60m. As a potential successor Bayer monitoring Carles Pérez from AS Roma.’

Both United and Arsenal will be keen to strengthen this summer – with the Gunners on course to get back into Europe next season.

The Red Devils, on the other hand, will be keen to freshen up their squad after yet another disappointing season which has seen them go without a trophy, once again.

Newcastle are also understood to be willing to offer around £50m for the France international but Leverkusen are reputed to value him closer to £75m they received from Chelsea for Kai Havertz in 2020.

The Magpies are keen to strengthen their attacking options and Diaby would give them another dimension plus more pace, particularly if they manage to keep hold of Allan Saint-Maximin, too.

The clubs held talks in January as Newcastle agreed a deal for Leverkusen’s Dutch left back Mitchel Bakker only to change their minds on the transfer.

Diaby came through the Paris Saint-Germain academy and played 34 games for the first team before moving to Germany in 2019.
