Paris Saint-Germain’s collapse in the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu will not be forgotten any time soon, yet there has been a significant amount of fallout within the Parisian camp following the defeat, not least with backup goalkeeper, Keylor Navas, who was reportedly livid that he was left on the bench.

Returning to his former club, Navas believed he would have been the better choice to start the match in the Spanish capital, however Mauricio Pochettino’s continued policy of rotating his goalkeepers didn’t allow for that to happen.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is undoubtedly the future at the position at the Parc des Princes, but it was actually the Italian’s error on the ball which led to Los Blancos’ opening goal and the resulting capitulation.

In a report published by L’Equipe, Navas was said to be furious at being left out of the starting XI, with the veteran making his feelings abundantly clear to Pochettino, although the Argentine has other, more pressing, issues on his plate.

Navas felt he should have been allowed to start the match on his first return to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, and he had good reason to believe he would have done, given the fact he’s started more matches than his Italian teammate this term.
