Jody Morris has opened up on the moment that he and Frank Lampard were sacked by Chelsea.

The former Chelsea player was working as an assistant to Lampard at Stamford Bridge, before they left the club in January last year.
Lampard has recently returned to management at Everton, though Morris who also worked with him at Derby, has not joined his friend at Goodison Park.
Speaking on talkSport, Morris has revealed the moment when Lampard rang Morris to say that he was on his way to Stamford Bridge to get sacked.
Morris said: ‘The last two weeks at the club there were a few rumours flying about and certain people outside the club were mentioning a few things before.

‘We played an FA Cup game two days before and Frank just rang early in the morning before going to work and just said “that’s it lads I’m on the way to the Bridge and we’re done” and he said “I’ll ring you after”.

‘It’s never nice and it wasn’t the biggest shock if I’m being brutally honest, it still doesn’t feel great.’
The 43-year-old came through the youth ranks at Chelsea alongside club legend John Terry.
After his playing career he spent four years coaching the club’s academy before joining Lampard at Derby in 2018.
Despite the disappointment of losing his job, he said that he still watched them in the aftermath of his sacking – due to his affinity for the players.
Morris said: ‘There’s no one more Chelsea than me. I grew up down the road from the club, I was there from an eight-year-old and obviously spent so long there.’
He went on to add: ‘I watched them all the time purely and simply because I had such an affinity with the players and wanted to see how they performed.

‘Some of them have performed unbelievable since we’ve left and some of them maybe not so much.
‘I will never stop watching Chelsea, they are still my club. There are moments you look at it and maybe feel funny feelings when you watch but that went after a couple of months.’
When asked whether he was annoyed some players performed better after he and Lampard left, Morris replied: ‘You do have those moments that cross your mind but then you have to re-evaluate and go listen maybe the manager is asking different things, some people get a little boost when a new manager comes in and then start putting it in a more than what they was.’
