Dejan Kulusevski admits he is ready to put in the hard yards at Tottenham Hotspur to gain a first-team spot after admitting Antonio Conte was a huge factor in joining the club.

Kulusevski arrived on a season long long from Juventus on deadline day and made his debut in the 3-1 win over Brighton in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

Conte was keen for his new arrivals, also including Rodrigo Bentancur from the Bianconeri, to get a taste of the intensity and physicality of the English top flight.

Conte has a reputation though of incredibly high demands of his players during training sessions and also of their discipline, but Kulusevski admits that was part of the reason he moved to the north London side.

‘I love suffering! That’s one thing about me, from when I was born. I love to work hard and I’ve already seen how they work [at Spurs]. It’s incredible’, the midfielder said.

‘Even after the game we had a crazy session. The training here is much more different from Italy — in a very good way. People are running faster, everything is faster to try to get us stronger.’

Featuring for the final 22 minutes, the Sweden international almost contributed with an assist on his debut only for his squared pass to Steven Bergwijn leading to the forward firing poorly off target.

Now though the 21-year-old, who has also impressed on loan at Parma in the past, insists he is ready to learn all he can from Conte, who was a major attraction to signing for Spurs.

‘He was everything, firstly, it’s a fantastic club and he has very good training, very good tactics, his staff are fantastic.

‘This week has been really amazing and I’m very, very honoured to be here. Conte is a winner and I want to be a winner.’
