A first-half strike from Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho handed Nigeria a 1-0 win over Egypt on Tuesday night.

The 25-year-old latched onto a Joe Aribo assist before unleashing a fine strike into the corner of the net on 30 minutes, in what would ultimately prove the decisive moment of the match.

While all eyes were on Mohamed Salah ahead of the encounter, the Liverpool star was unable to seize his best chance of the night on 70 minutes, with Nigeria keeper Maduka Okoye denying the effort.

Iheanacho may grab the headlines for his goal, but it was club teammate Wilfred Ndidi who was pivotal in thwarting the Egyptians’ efforts.
