Mauro Icardi’s days at Paris Saint-Germain may be numbered, with the Argentine striker linked with a number of clubs across Europe who need a centre-forward.

Yet, Mauricio Pochettino has spoken very highly of his fellow Argentine, suggesting he wants to keep the player to ensure PSG have squad depth over the second half of 2021/22.

“He surely wants to play more and be more of a star in a team, but every player here is important,” Pochettino said in a press conference when asked about the Icardi exit rumours.

“His characteristics make him a killer in the final few metres of the pitch.

“He is the kind of player that every team needs.”

There are some, though, who believe this might be a strategy from PSG to keep Icardi’s value high, should any suitors come calling with serious interest this winter.
