Tottenham fans were enraptured by Hugo Lloris’ performance against West Ham as Antonio Conte’s side earned a 2-1 win to reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

And many supporters took to Twitter to demand that the Frenchman be handed a new contract with the club.

Lloris’ long stay at Spurs could be nearing an end as he and the club are yet to agree a new contract for the 34-year-old, but fans on social media hope his decisive display will be enough to convince Daniel Levy to offer him a deal.

‘Hugo Lloris, man. New contract announced for his birthday on Boxing Day or we riot. Flawless, again,’ wrote user @charlieparrish.

Spurs fan Nick Davison also said Lloris deserved to be awarded with an extension of his contract after his heroics.

‘The sooner Tottenham sort out a new contract with Hugo Lloris, the better. He’s been outstanding and is one of the best in the league,’ he wrote.

Another Twitter user, Liam Murphy, said Spurs will struggle to find a replacement for Lloris, who joined the club in 2012 from Lyon.

He wrote: ‘We will not find a replacement to Hugo Lloris’ quality for a long, long time. Give him whatever he wants and let Antonio Conte put some silverware by his name.’

‘We will not find a replacement to Hugo Lloris’ quality for a long, long time. Give him whatever he wants and let Antonio Conte put some silverware by his name.’

Lloris has made 390 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham and is the longest-serving player left in the squad.

He has played all 15 of Spurs’ Premier League games this season, staving off competition from Pierluigi Gollini, who joined on loan from Atalanta last summer.

But his future with the club remains unclear.

In August he said Tottenham had not yet approached him about a new deal and he is free to speak to foreign clubs from January ahead of a free transfer.

‘There is nothing from the club, to be honest,’ he said.

‘I don’t have to show my loyalty towards the club after nine years .

‘I’m just calm and relaxed and focused on myself and make sure that I’m ready to compete on the first game.

‘I always give my priority to Spurs and we will see what will happen. I’m not affected about that, I’m just enjoying football.

‘My only reason to wake up every morning is to work, enjoy the training session and enjoy the competition.’
