Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha has this afternoon etched his name into the storied history books of the club.

After stuttering to a 4th successive draw at home to lowly Newcastle United last weekend, the Eagles made the trip to the Etihad, for a daunting Premier League showdown with Manchester City.

As things stand on the blue half of Manchester, though, Palace look well on their way towards one of the shock results of the season thus far.

A solitary goal, netted by the aforementioned Zaha, sees the visitors in possession of a 1-0 advantage at the interval on Saturday afternoon.

After capitalising on an uncharacteristic City mix-up in the middle of the park, Zaha was slipped in by Conor Gallagher, to slot a pinpoint finish beyond Ederson and in at the far post:

And, as outlined above, in the process of opening the day’s scoring at the Etihad, Crystal Palace’s star man also managed to etch his name into the club’s history books.

As revealed by statisticians OptaJoe, Zaha’s strike versus City marked his 50th in the Premier League for the Eagles.

No other player in the history of the south London club have ever managed such a milestone in the top-flight of English football, securing  the Ivorian’s status as nothing short of a Palace legend:
