Brazilian international and Real Madrid football club of Spain, Marcelo Vieira da Silva Junior popularly known as Marcelo could be calling it quit with the Los Blancos at the end of the current campaign after his 14 years spell at the club.

The prolific left-back has had a sensational career at the Santiago Bernabeu since his arrival at the club in 2007 from Fluminense making over three hundred appearances for the European giant.

Marcelo is known for his flexibility and top notch pace when on ball combining the defensive role with an advance role upfront which made him had a beautiful bromance relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo during his spell at the club, as he created quite number of assists for the five times Ballon d’or winner.

The 33 years old football maestro is gradually falling out of favour from their Italian manager, Carlo Ancelloti despite been made the captain of the club following the departure of Sergio Ramos to Paris Saint Germain in the last summer transfer window.

Marcelo has been finding it difficult to break his way into the team’s starting XI as Ferland Mendy is now the preferred number one choice at the left wing ahead of the Brazilian ace, which made him an unused substitute in the last weekend El-Clasico before he was given a chance in the second half to replace the France international during their last disappointing goalless draw against Osasuna.

Marcelo has made his mind known to his teammates about his possible return to Fluminense where it all started from at the end of the season after successful and fulfilled 14 years at the Spanish Capital, winning several titles both at the domestic top-flight league and European competitions.

Marcelo who is undoubtedly one of the best left-backs in the modern game of football won a total of 22 trophies with Real Madrid including being elected in the UCL squad of the season three times, named in the FIFPro World XI six times, UEFA Team of the Year three times among others.
