Rio Ferdinand admits he ‘wouldn’t be happy’ with Paul Pogba and his recent public outburst had he been his team-mate.

The Frenchman spoke candidly in a post-match interview after Manchester United’s 4-2 defeat at Leicester City.

Speaking to the BBC after their loss at the King Power Stadium – their second of the season in the Premier League –  the France star insisted that their setback was deserved, pointing to tactical issues.

‘We have not found the problem, conceding easy goals, stupid goals,’ he said.

‘We need to be more mature, play with more experience and arrogance in a good way. We need to find something, we need to change.

‘We need to find the right mentality and the right tactic. Stick with it and resolve the problem.’

The mention of tactics appeared to be a direct message to boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has seen the pressure mount on him this season with a number of eyebrow raising results.

Despite the obvious issues, however, former Red Devils captain Ferdinand admitted that Pogba’s approach had left him feeling uneasy.

‘It doesn’t sit well with me when I see that,’ he said on his FIVE podcast.

‘I’ll be honest if I was in a changing room and a team-mate said [that] I wouldn’t be happy.

‘I’d be straight in asking him what he meant, what does this mean? Unless I actually agreed with him but I just think Pogba is an honest guy, that’s what I like about him.

‘He’s very passionate, he wants to win. That says to me that there’s a frustration, an underlying frustration within the camp there. He’s not hiding it, he can’t hide it.

‘Normally you get bog standard answers [in post-match interviews] but there he said a few things that pose questions.’

United are currently sat sixth in the Premier League, five points behind Chelsea in top spot.
