Manchester City would of course make it to their first-ever Champions League final last season before eventually losing to Chelsea.

The Citizens are set to get at least one more shot at Champions League glory under Pep Guardiola this campaign and have been drawn in a fairly tough group.

The Manchester powerhouse will begin their European adventures next Wednesday, facing off with German outfit RB Leipzig at the Etihad on Wednesday the 15th of September.

City’s second Champions League outing of 2021/22 then takes place at the back end of September.

Pep Guardiola and co. face a trip to PSG on September 28th, a tie which is sandwiched between away Premier League meetings with Chelsea and Liverpool.

Di Maria out of first Man City tie

Said fixtures are no doubt set to prove a very tough test for Man City, especially PSG who now boast arguably the best attack in world football at present.

Lionel Messi has joined Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria to make up an incredibly lethal attacking quartet.

However, in a boost for Man City, one of those stars is set to miss the September 28th tie.

That man is Angel Di Maria, who has been banded for three Champions League ties following his sending off against City in the semi-final of last season’s Champions League:
