Amid the wide array of attacking talent on show for the first three games of the season, Manchester City star Phil Foden has been conspicuous in his absence. The 20-year-old creative maestro picked up an injury during international duty in the summer, which saw him miss parts of England’s run to the final.

As such, he has not been a part of the matchday squads for any of the fixtures to date this season, but that could be about to change.

As per the Manchester Evening News, Foden is set to return to full training ahead of The Blues’ trip to Leicester City, along with fellow star Kevin De Bruyne, who has similarly been absent due to injury picked up with Belgium.

New contract reportedly in the works

In further good news for Manchester City fans, the Manchester Evening News reports that a new six-year deal is in the works for the Englishman, who has three years still to run on his current deal.

As per the report, the deal could be concluded as early as the end of the week, which would see Foden join the likes of Ederson, John Stones and Ruben Dias in extending his stay in Manchester this summer.

With the 20-year-old still growing into his prime, committing his long-term future to Manchester City would be a massive boost to Citizens worldwide
