Liverpool are reportedly monitoring West Ham star Jarrod Bowen as Jurgen Klopp ponders bolstering his attacking options heading into the 2021-22 campaign.

A combination of a blunt attack and a leaky defence resulted in Liverpool losing their Premier League crown to Manchester City last season, and Klopp is bidding to dethrone Pep Guardiola’s champions this time around.

The Reds have already recruited Ibrahima Konate in a £36m deal from RB Leipzig and are also looking to strengthen in attack before their opening day game against Norwich City on August 14.

According to The Athletic, Bowen has emerged as a target for the Reds, with the Englishman understood to feature on a list of attacking options this summer.

The Anfield club’s capability of strengthening in the forward areas depends on whether they can shift the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi in this window.

Both players have fallen down the pecking order, particularly since Diogo Jota’s arrival, and the club are reportedly open to selling the pair. Lazio are understood to be interested in Shaqiri.

Bowen has impressed since joining The Hammers from Hull City in an £18m deal in January 2020, helping guide David Moyes’ side to a sixth place finish last season.

The attacker scored eight goals and provided five assists for The Hammers, and the East London club are in a strong position with Bowen’s contract running until 2025.

The 24-year-old is believed to fit Liverpool’s profile of attacking targets in terms of playing style, versatility across the forward positions and age. Klopp, the report states, is also a huge admirer of the Englishman.
