Ajax continue to explore the possibility of signing of Steven Bergwijn this summer but Tottenham are reluctant to sell the winger.

Bergwijn became one of Jose Mourinho’s first signings when Spurs paid PSV Eindhoven around £27million for him in January last year.
The 23-year-old was largely reduced to substitute appearances during his first full season in the Premier League and is also attracting interest from the Bundesliga.

Tottenham, however, are keen for Bergwijn to start pre-season with Mourinho’s successor, which now looks likely to be Nuno Espirito Santo.
Spurs are expected to want their money back should Bergwijn depart north London, a fee that would represent a significant outlay for Ajax.

The Holland international is aware he requires regular game time in the hope of forcing a way back into Frank De Boer’s squad after missing out on the European Championship.
Bergwijn has set his sights on making the World Cup squad for the tournament in Qatar next year.
