Tony Cascarino told talkSPORT that he thinks Arsenal forward, Bukayo Saka, will be left out of England’s final 26-man squad for Euro 2020 today.

Gareth Southgate is expected to name his freshly-cut squad on Tuesday afternoon, with Arsenal’s versatile machine hoping to make the cut.

Given that Saka can play in various roles, it does provide him with that extra chance to be picked, but he has been listed as a forward by England and that’s where the biggest quality lies for the Three Lions.

Ex-Republic of Ireland international, Cascarino, thinks it would be ‘harsh’ to leave out Saka, but he feels that he’s set to be the ‘unluckiest’ player of them all by getting the chop.

“The interesting one is the forward areas,” said Cascarino. “I think more are going to lose out in those areas than there are in midfield and defenders.

“I think he will be the unluckiest player of all. His season has been great. But I just have a sneaky feeling he could be left out for other players.

“I think it’s harsh because he’s been so good, at times. I just have this gut feeling that Saka’s going to be the one that it’s going to be a hard one for him to take because of how he’s played this year for Arsenal.

“And you are right, his versatility is extraordinary. Sterling is going to go and he hasn’t played as well as Saka. I don’t think Rashford has played as well as Saka. But he will get ahead of him.”

On paper, and in terms of performances, from the forward players listed, Saka has outperformed the likes of Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford this season.

And even though Manchester City’s losing Champions League finalist has been off the boil for some while now, he will, more than likely, make the cut because of his experience and past performances.

That’s where Saka will be pretty unlucky to miss out, but until then, he will be hoping that Southgate has enough legroom in his squad to allow him on that plane to the Euros.
