Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City

The Belgian Magician has continued to justify his claim to the title as one of the best midfielders in the world. The Manchester City midfielder hasn’t missed a beat despite the stop-start schedule of the League this season. De Bruyne has amassed a monstrous number of assists in all competitions this season. Twenty of which came in the English Premier League added to his league goals scored so far in this league campaign. The City man broke the all-time EPL record of assists (20) in a season set by Arsenal FC Legend Thierry Henry.

What makes Kevin de Bruyne the best midfielder in the world is his incredible technique, tactical intelligence, athleticism, work-rate off the ball, skill, vision, crossing accuracy, a wide range of passing, and exceptional long-range shooting ability with either foot.

Thiago Alcantara – Bayern Munich

The 29-year-old Spanish midfielder has been nothing short of magnificent this season. The Bayern Munich midfielder followed on from his impressive season last term with an even more impressive performance this time around. Thiago was instrumental as Bayern Munich won the treble in the 2019/20 football season. An excellent passer, dribbler, and playmaker, Thiago has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.

Hakim Ziyech – Chelsea

The Moroccan maestros’ season was ended too soon due to the premature end of the Dutch Eredivise as a result of the corona pandemic. However, that didn’t stop the Chelsea FC bond player from having another excellent season posting 13 league assists and six goals for his former club AFC Ajax in the 2019/20 season. The exciting attacking midfielder will be relishing next season as he prepares to lace his boots at Stamford Bridge.

Casemiro – Real Madrid

Real Madrid won the 2019/20 La Liga trophy because of the incredible brilliance of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. Casemiro scored four goals and provided one assist in the League, however, he was more crucial to the Los Blancos, with his tackles, ability to break up play, and aggressiveness. Although he usually plays as a defensive midfielder, he has also been deployed in a box-to-box role in the centre of the pitch, or at centre-back for Madrid.

Bruno Fernandes – Manchester United

Portuguese playmaker Fernandes has come into his own this season with exceptional displays this season for Sporting Lisbon and Manchester United FC. His impressive showings, especially in the premier league this season, have caught the eye since he joined the Red Devils this January. He has scored some crucial goals and assists so far in the league, and his numbers haven’t been a bad return for the 25-year-old.
