In-form Ivory Coast national team star Sebastien Haller has set a new record, after netting a brace in Ajax Amsterdam football club’s remarkable 2-1 comeback victory over Besiktas football club in the week 5 of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.

The 27 years old has been superb for the Dutch Eredivisie League Champions in all competitions since the beginning of the season, and he was able to extend his impressive performance against the Turkish Super Lig side on Wednesday.

The former West Ham United football club star made his UEFA Champions League debut for Ajax Amsterdam football club against Sporting Lisbon football club of Portugal in September, and he has been outstanding since then.

Sebastien Haller netted four goals against Sporting Lisbon football club, he went on to score a goal against Besiktas FC, he also scored two goals against Borussia Dortmund football club, before netting a brace against Besiktas FC to take his total goals in this season’s UEFA Champions League to 9.

Algeria national team star Rachid Ghezzal opened scoring for the home team via a penalty kick in the 22nd minutes, and Sebastien Haller equalized in the 54th minutes before he scored the winning goal in the 69th minutes to end the match 2-1.

With Sebastien Haller’s brace against Besiktas football club, it means he has broken Erling Braut Haaland’s record to become the first player in UEFA Champions League history to score 9 or more goals in his first five games.

The 27 years old will now be looking forward to continuing his impressive performance for the club when they play Sporting Lisbon football club in their last game of the group stage in few weeks time.
