Aaron Ramsey is aiming to be back in the Premier League by the time Wales tackle their World Cup play-off early next year.

The midfielder has scored three goals in his last three matches for his country and will be a key man for them on Monday. A point against Belgium would secure second place in their qualifying group — and a better chance of a home tie in the play-offs — as Wales try to reach football’s grandest stage for the first time since 1958.

Yet it is a different story for Ramsey at club level. He is not trusted by Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri and all signs point to a return to England in January.

Ramsey has expressed frustration with the training methods at Juve that he believes are hampering his ability to play regularly, and he has not started for the Serie A giants since August 22.

The former Arsenal star will not be short of suitors but his financial demands will determine whether a deal can be done.

Since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, the 30-year-old is among the highest earners at Juventus, with 19 months to run on a contract worth about £400,000 a week. Few English clubs would be prepared to match those terms.

Belgium will present a stern challenge, yet with Ramsey and Gareth Bale in their team in Cardiff, Wales will believe anything is possible.

‘The motivation to get second place in the group is massive,’ said Ramsey. ‘Hopefully it will be a special night against Belgium and we are excited to be in a position where we can finish second.

‘I came off in the second half against Belarus to save myself 20 minutes and hopefully I’ll feel the benefit of that on Tuesday.’

Wales will be without defender Ethan Ampadu, who serves a one-match suspension after picking up a yellow card against Belarus.

Kieffer Moore was banned for Saturday’s game and the Cardiff centre forward is set to come back into the reckoning.
