Newcastle United have moved on from Unai Emery with regards to their search for a new coach, and Eddie Howe is now the favourite to make a return to the Premier League with the Magpies, but just what will the former Bournemouth coach bring to St. James’ Park?

Howe enjoyed a phenomenal rise with the Cherries, taking them into the Premier League and keeping them there for five seasons before relegation hit.
The English coach enjoyed a club-high ninth place finish in 2016/17, and has been out of work since he left Bournemouth.
What are Newcastle getting from a tactical standpoint?
One of the main criticisms of Steve Bruce was that he didn’t play expansive enough football to not only get Newcastle fans off their seats, but also to bring the best out of the squad he had on Tyneside.
Howe will look to bring a high-pressing, direct style of football to the club from day one. His Bournemouth team was renowned for their ability to move the ball from defence to attack in a quick manner, especially when they had Nathan Ake at centre-half, dictating play.

Fast forwards will be key and Howe has experience working with Callum Wilson, although it remains to be seen how he will utilise Newcastle’s best player, Allan Saint-Maximin, who isn’t known for his willingness to press.
Newcastle will start utilising possession more, it’s likely we’ll see Jonjo Shelvey return to the team prior to the January transfer window, with it expected the Toon will be exceedingly active in the market.
