The Red Devils will head into their Premier League encounter with Spurs looking to prove themselves after suffering a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Varane was sidelined for United’s game against Liverpool after he sustained a quad injury while away on international duty with France earlier this month.

Varane’s injury took place in the first half of France’s game with Spain earlier this month. The Manchester United defender winced as he lengthened his stride and cut out a low cross from Gavi five minutes before the interval.

It seemed innocuous but the United centre-half signalled towards the bench immediately as he sat on the floor asking for treatment.

The injury came as a substantial blow for Manchester United – considering they paid £40million to attain his services from Real Madrid over summer.

However, the Red Devils have been handed a timely boost ahead of their clash with Tottenham this weekend as Varane returned to full training.

The Frenchman was seen linking up with under-fire boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with at the club’s training ground.

Varane was also seen taking part in several drills. However, it has not yet been determined whether Varane will be fit enough to face Tottenham on Saturday – having missed United’s two previous games against Liverpool and Leicester.

Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire were also among those picture taking part in the session on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer – who was seen for the first time since the Liverpool humiliation – led the session.

The United manager was seen spurting instructions to help the Red Devils rediscover their best form before their showdown with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.

Solskjaer will be hopeful his wisdom rubbed off on the players as many believe Saturday’s fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will the deciding factor as to whether he stays at the club.
