Real Madrid forward Rodrygo was ‘not satisfied’ with an El Clasico win over Barcelona because he ‘wants more’ out of this season.

Carlo Ancelotti returned to Real Madrid in the summer to find a side hurting after losing out on the league title to city rivals Atletico Madrid.

Victory over Barcelona at the Nou Camp, in what was Rodrygo’s 50th appearance in LaLiga, lifted them to second and all eyes once again are on retaining the league crown.

‘I’m not satisfied with the Clasico, I want more,’ Rodrygo told Goal.

‘Reaching 50 games in La Liga is something very important for me.

‘I am young, this is only my third season and I have already reached such a milestone. I hope to continue, always with the aim of helping Real Madrid win.

‘I’m happy to reach these figures and I will work to reach others. We are in a very good moment, the team has evolved and the trend is to improve more and more, with each game.’

Rodrygo, 20, joined Madrid for £38million back in 2019 after the Spaniards poached him away from Flamengo.

It has proven something of a slow start to life in the Spanish capital for the Brazilian but he looks to have won the faith of Ancelotti right now, who is preferring him to Eden Hazard.

‘He has absolutely everything but he has to put up with the situation,’ Ancelotti told Spanish media. ‘Right now he has a coach who prefers other players.’

One of those players preferred by Ancelotti is Rodrygo, who has now made 71 appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid.

A goal return is something he is working on having scored just 11 so far. He also has 12 assists to his name.

Madrid play host to a much-improved Osasuna side on Wednesday night and a win can take them top temporarily with Real Sociedad, who are a point ahead right now, not playing until Thursday as they travel to Celta Vigo.
