Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku believes he is more than just a ‘target man’ up front because he ‘can do a bit of everything’.

The £98million forward has scored four goals in nine appearances since his return to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Belgian international has opened up on his style of play and claimed that he’s most dangerous when his back isn’t to goal and even went as far as to say that he loathes the reputation he has as a ‘goal poacher’.

‘The way I’m built – I’m quite big – everybody thinks I’m a sort of target man: just holding up the ball and being a goal poacher. But I’ve never played that way and I hate it,’ he told UEFA’s official website.

‘My biggest strength is that I’m dangerous when I’m facing towards the goal, because that’s when I rarely make wrong choices.

‘After I pass the ball, I know where I have to position myself in the box. I can do a bit of everything and in some games when I know there is a lot of space behind the defence, I play differently.

‘The reason I’m so productive [in front of goal] is because I can do a bit of everything.’

Lukaku will turn his attentions to sticking the ball away for his country Belgium this week with players jetting off on international duty.

Roberto Martinez’s side face a mouth-watering showdown with France in the UEFA Nations League semi-final on Thursday night.

His last goal came against Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League group stages on September 14 with the former Inter Milan star failing to find the net in his last five matches.
