Jesse Lingard is confident England will prevail in their Euro 2020 final against Italy to win their first major championship in 55 years.

The Manchester United player was called up to Gareth Southgate’s initial 33-man squad after impressing on-loan last season at West Ham.

Lingard was cut however when Southgate announced his final 26-man squad.

He’ll be watching the game from home in isolation after returning from a holiday in Mykonos, but claims he’ll be ‘screaming the house down’.

The 28-year-old told the Lions Den on England’s official YouTube channel: ‘I got back on Monday, I’ve been quarantining, but it’s day five today, I got the negative test result. I’ll watch the game tonight and then go in training tomorrow.

‘[I’ll] stay at home, soak it up, maybe get a few people around, I’ll be screaming the house down when that full-time whistle goes and we win. I can feel it.’

The midfielder also uploaded a photo of him in an England shirt with fist clenches, captioned: ‘BRING IT HOME BOYS’.

Lingard was somewhat unfortunate to miss the cut for the final squad after scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 16 appearances for the Hammers.

He has continued to show his support throughout the tournament, previously watching their first game, a 1-0 win over Croatia, in the pub wearing a Declan Rice shirt and having a parrot sat on his shoulder.

Lingard has one year left on his deal at Old Trafford, though West Ham boss David Moyes, would be keen to sign him up on a permanent transfer.
