After assisting Lucas Paqueta’s winner against Peru in the semi-final, Neymar has his sights set on the Copa America final and hopes to see his friend Lionel Messi there.

Argentina face Colombia on Tuesday night in the second semi-final, with the winner set to take on Brazil on Saturday.

Neymar was the first player to face the media following the 1-0 win over Peru and, after criticising the refereeing, he expressed his preferred opponent for the grand finale.

“I want to play the final against Argentina,” said Neymar post-match, without hesitating.

For the Paris Saint-Germain star it would be an on-field reunion with Messi, a player he has previously expressed a desire to play alongside again.

For the rest of the world, Brazil vs Argentina, Neymar vs Messi, would be a showpiece event to draw the attention of many neutrals, but Colombia might have something to say about it first
