Manchester United are reportedly set to ‘battle’ Chelsea for the signing of Leeds United star Illan Meslier.
According to French outlet Media Foot (via Caught Offside ), both United and Chelsea are interested in signing Meslier. The 22-year-old is one of the youngest goalkeepers in the Premier League and has impressed during his time between the sticks at Leeds.
The Frenchman could now be set for a move to Old Trafford as United look to the shot-stopper as a possible replacement for David de Gea, who is out of contract at the end of this season. Although the club have the option to extend the 32-year-old’s deal by a further year, Meslier could be viewed as a longer-term solution to Erik ten Hag’s goalkeeping headache.
