Former Belgium coach Roberto Martinez has defended Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku after a poor World Cup.

Martinez insists Lukaku’s fitness problems held him back in Qatar.
He said: “In our team, as in all the others, there are players who cannot be replaced, and Lukaku is one of them.
“He is the top scorer in the team’s history. He did something incredible. Being able to be on the pitch after the double injury he had with his club…
“He gave us 45 minutes against Croatia and five goal opportunities to score and it would have been the perfect entrance for Romelu in the World Cup and in the team.”
