Manchester United have been drawn against fellow Premier League side Everton in the FA Cup Third Round.

United are set to welcome the Toffees to their Old Trafford base in the world-famous competition after the draw was screened on BBC Two. A date will be set in due course – between January 6 and January 9 – depending on TV and broadcasting schedules.

Having been appointed United manager this summer, Erik ten Hag will enjoy his first taste of the FA Cup when the tie rolls around. However, with several players away on World Cup duty with their respective nations, it also comes at a time when his squad will be stretched to the limit with multiple winter fixtures.

Upon their return to domestic matters next month, United take on Championship outfit Burnley in the League Cup on Wednesday, December 21 and encounter another three Premier League games between December 27 and their FA Cup tie against Everton. Ten Hag and his players then have the Manchester derby on Saturday, January 14.

United last won the FA Cup in 2015/2016 under current Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal, while their overall win tally (12) in the world-famous competition is bettered only by 14-time winners Arsenal.
